What is Renaissance?

RENAISSANCE IS ACADEMICS WITH AN ATTITUDE!

A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IS CONTAGIOUS.

IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG BEFORE IT BECOMES COOL TO EXCEL!

Renaissance means rebirth! It is a new way of thinking about education and the behaviors we are trying to teach and encourage.

Renaissance uses reward and recongnition to generate motivation, commitment, and success. It acknowledges and celebrates both small and large successes.

As a Renaissance School, Tallapoosa Primary will set academic and behavior standards and monitor students achieve these goals. Students who improve, get recongnized and rewarded.

Renaissance is about partnership. It involves the entire commuinty working together as partners to support the program and to provide leadership and reinforcement.

Renaissance Handbook

Attendance

Students are expected to be at school and on time every day. However, please do not send your child to school sick, as this, spreads germs and increases illness to other children. We will have two levels of attendance:

Perfect & Excellent

*Students will qualify for PERFECT ATTENDANCE if he/she has NO TARDIES and NO ABSENTS during a 9 week period.

*Students will qualify for EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE if he/she has one (1) tardy OR one (1) absence during a 9 week period.

TO QUALIFY FOR YEARS END AWARDS AND DRAWINGS, STUDENTS MUST HAVE 100% ATTENDANCE FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR WITH ABSOLUTELY NO TARDIES.

Academic Achievement

All students are expected to perform at their best every day. Students with all A's , all A's & B's, Kindergarten Achievement will be given awards each 9 weeks.

Special Awards

Mr. & Mrs Manners (1 boy & 1 girl in each class) will be given to students who exhibit polite behavior to adults and peers.

Extra Mile Awards (1 boy & 1 girl in each class) will be given to students who give 110%.

Tiger Awards (1student per class) will be given to students who strive to do their best, attend school regularly, and exhibit polite behavior.

Improvement Award will be givien to students who show great inprovement during the 9 week period. Criteria will be based upon teacher's discretion.

Discipline

All students are expected to behave appropriatley at school. Rules will be established for all areas. Students who are written up and referred to the office for unacceptable behavior will NOT receive a Renaissance Award.
